Town Hall meeting to address prescription drug abuse concerns
The Roane County Rx Task Force will have a “Taking Back Roane County” town hall meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in the student lounge area of Roane State Community College’s main campus.
A panel of physicians, pharmacists and law-enforcement officers will discuss their concerns and challenges around prescription drug abuse and provide information about how county residents can protect themselves and loved ones.
An addiction video with personal testimony will run prior to the meeting.
Discussions will kick off at 6 p.m. and include a PowerPoint presentation by Dr. William Bennett.
A facilitated panel discussion will include Kent Stephens and individuals involved in treatment, including an emergency room physician, general medicine practitioner, law-enforcement officer and pharmacist.
A question-and-answer session will follow, with closing remarks to include asking for engagement and referral to treatment resources.
The Roane County Rx Task Force is comprised of area physicians, pharmacists, hospital personnel, law enforcement and other interested members of the community.
