Complimentary Workshop
Presented by the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA), the Tennessee Health Emergency Preparedness (EP), the Tennessee Methamphetamine & Pharmaceutical Task Force and the National Center for Emergency Preparedness

Prescription drug abuse is at epidemic proportions. In 2009 approximately 1 million emergency department visits were attributed to prescription drug abuse. In the 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), it estimated 2.4 million individuals in the U.S. used prescription drugs nonmedically for the first time. Many individuals are affected by prescription drug abuse, however youth, older adults and women may be particularly susceptible. The identification and prevention of prescription drug abuse is a problem that requires the proactive attention of physicians, patients, pharmacists and the entire healthcare community. The Prescription Drug Abuse Workshop is a one day event designed to address the causes, recognition and preventive measures available to addiction recovery treatment center professionals. In addition, the Workshop will provide an overview of the legal and policy considerations that can produce positive impacts on the individuals adversely affected by prescription drug abuse and on the health system entrusted with their care, those stuggling with drug addiction will also understand why the drug detoxification everett wa is their best option.
