Halloween isn’t just about costumes, candy and trick-or-treating, it’s about staying safe.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), almost half of all fatalities involving a motor vehicle on Halloween night involved a drunk driver in 2012. In that same year, 26 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes on Halloween night.
NHTSA released a marketing campaign that coalitions can use to promote safe driving this holiday. This year, the main messages are: “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” and “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.”
